About the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office

Organizational Overview

Oakland County Prosecutor's OfficeUnder the direction of Prosecutor David G. Gorcyca, the Assistant Prosecutors of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office conduct hundreds of trials involving crimes of murder, rape, armed robbery, home invasion, narcotics and child abuse.

Each year we:

  • review over 20,000 warrant requests
  • issue 25,000 - 30,000 subpoenas
  • prepare over 12,000 General Informations (charging documents)
  • issue over 2,000 bench warrants
  • file over 800 briefs with the appellate courts, and
  • receive and handle approximately 2,000 pieces of correspondence weekly

The Office is organized into the Administration, Litigation, Appellate and Warrants and Investigations Divisions. Each division reflects a primary legal function, an individual court responsibility, or particular type of case. This arrangement permits specialized attention by staff attorneys with specific expertise.
