What is a Register Hearing?

A Register Hearing is conducted by the Probate Register on uncontested matters that do not require judicial determination. For example, a petition to allow an account in which no fees are requested would be heard at a Register Hearing.

Why are Register Hearings held?

Register Hearings are held for judicial efficiency. The chief probate judge gives the register authority to hear certain routine uncontested matters so that the courtroom dockets are less congested to accommodate the complex or contested probate matters.
