I want to volunteer! How do I start? |
Alexis Shull Volunteer Coordinator |
The Oakland Pet Adoption Center is always actively accepting new volunteers! Volunteers are critical to the success of the Oakland Pet Adoption Center. In order to get started, you must first fill out an application and waiver (volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian), and attend our volunteer training orientation.
Once you have attended a training orientation, all volunteers are welcome to walk dogs and socialize cats during our open business hours, listed below:
Mondays & Fridays: 10am-6:15pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays: 10am-5:15pm
Saturdays: 10am-4pm
Here are the following positions where we need volunteers:
Dog Walkers
Caring for Cats
Greeters to Welcome Visitors
Adoption Counselors
Foster Care
Special Events
Contact Alexis, our volunteer coordinator to find out more about possibilities, 248-391-6286.
Still want to help? Become a Foster Parent!
Sometimes we have animals that are either too young, sick or injured to be put up for adoption, so we are always looking for people to take care of them until they are ready to find loving homes. There is an application and manual that goes along with this huge responsibility.
Requirements: We do ask that all volunteers under the age of 18 have parental or adult supervision.
All volunteers must wear:
Closed Toe Shoes Long Shorts or Pants Nametag (given out at orientation)
*Please remember that working with animals can be messy, so don't wear anything you mind getting muddy, hairy and wet.
