The Oakland Pet Adoption Center and several other animal rescue agencies will be on hand for "Howl-O-Ween", a pet adoption event Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 20-21, at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Mt. Clemens.
The event is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
"As metro Detroit's homeless animal numbers continue to climb, events like this become increasingly important," said Joanie Toole, Oakland Pet Adoption Center spokeswomen.  "Howl-O-Ween is a great opportunity for us to introduce the area's animal lovers to the many beautiful cats, dogs, kittens and puppies that are in need of good homes."
The Oakland Pet Adoption Center especially needs homes for its overflowing cat population.  An increase in the number of cats and kittens it received this year, coupled with a construction project at the center, temporarily squeezed housing for the adoptable felines.  Cat cages are temporarily stacked in hallways at the shelter.  The Oakland Pet Center will have both dogs and cats ready for adoption at "Howl-O-Ween".
Not sure if your existing dog or cat will get along with a new family pet?
Bring them along to Howl-O-Ween to meet their new potential housemates.  Visiting pets can enjoy free massages and view new toys, treats and other vendor items.
Admission to Howl-O-Ween is free.  There is a $2 charge for parking at Gibraltar Trade Center.  Gibraltar Trade Center is located at 237 N. River Rd. in Mt. Clemens.
