The Oakland Pet Adoption Center, also know as the "Animal Shelter" is severely overcrowded with cats and kittens, so much so that many are being kept in cages in the lobby and halls, with multiple cats in each cage.  To make matters worse, remodeling will begin next week on the lobby area.
Permanent or even temporary foster homes are desperately needed.  If you can provide a loving home to one or more cats, go to the Animal Adoption Center at 1700 Brown Road, Auburn Hills.  They are open from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, and other weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., and usually on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Call first to be sure.
There is a charge to permanently adopt a cat or kitten, but the staff will work with you on pricing.  Or if you can provide a temporary foster home to ehlp get through the crisis, there is no charge and you can get assistance with food and litter.  Bring a driver's license or a state I.D. for either adoption or fostering.  For more information, call 248-391-4100, or go to oakgov.com/anmlctrl/adoption.
