Learn more about volunteering at the
Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center!
Volunteers are an invaluable asset to our shelter animals! They are crucial to the helping our furry friends find permanent homes. Volunteers assist with events, work at the shelter, and most importantly, keep the animals socialized. We could not do what we do without YOU!
How can you get started as a volunteer? Read about our volunteer position openings and available training dates. If you would like to sign up or have other questions, please contact Mark Christopher at

________________________________________________________________________Do you need community service for high school or college? Work as a Shelter Greeter or Tour Guide!
Shelter Greeters will greet customers, help assist them with locating different areas of the shelter, provide basic customer service, and directing them to the front desk for further questions. This shift is 2-3 days, 3-4 hours per shift.
Tour Guides assist with giving shelter tours, or conducting presentations offsite. Shift varies, mostly Saturdays.
Other ways to get community service hours? Consider hosting a donation drive, sponsorship campaign or fundraiser!
