Downtown Pontiac

Pontiac

Mission: To undertake public improvements that have the greatest impact in strengthening the downtown area, and attracting new private investments.

Description: The Woodward Loop and Fringe best describe the boundaries of Downtown Pontiac, intersected by the Clinton River and the Clinton River Trail.  Downtown has tremendous potential, with one of the finest collections of historic commercial architecture in the United States, from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, and serves as the County Seat.  Downtown contains an interesting variety of restaurants, nightclubs, galleries and the Strand Theater, together with retail specialty shops, services, high-tech computer technology companies, parks, and business offices.  Diverse neighborhoods and historic districts surround the downtown area and add to its unique sense of place.  An extensive list of music concerts, ethnic festivals and special events attract visitors from a wide market area.
