Oakland County's Green Infrastructure Program

The Visioning Process

Using the Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) 'Potential Natural Area' coverage, the Environmental Stewardship Group and Natural Areas Advisory Group are working closely with individual communities to identify and map existing green infrastructure elements throughout the County.

Local Communities are then encouraged to use their Green Infrastructure Maps to establish recommendations for best land management practices, rank conservation priorities and identify funding needs, and address Green Infrastructure goals through local plans and ordinances.

When complete, a countywide vision will be developed that will include maps of interconnected natural resources, along with local community recommendations and implementation goals.
