The conference brings together individuals from various backgrounds, who deal with the built and natural environment, to discuss ways to improve their communities. The conference attracts nearly 200 local and regional governmental staff, elected officials, developers, architects, realtors, consultants, and small business owners as well as representatives from environmental and historical interests.
Keynote Speaker:
Louise Sturgess, Is the Executive Director of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has worked successfully with school teachers and other non-profit organizations to create educational programs that use architecture as an interdisciplinary theme to awaken learning and make classroom curricula more relevant to the everyday life of students. The History Channel, Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies, Preservation Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission are among those who have recognized Landmarks for its innovative education programs. Louise teaches many of Landmarks' in-service classes and creates tours and special programs for students of all ages and learning abilities.
