Oakland County Board of Commissioners Launch Prescription Discount Card Program at No Cost to Residents

(Pontiac, Michigan)-- The Oakland County Board of Commissioners and the National Association of Counties (NACo), are making free prescription drug discount cards available for uninsured and underinsured residents beginning Monday, May 15, 2006.
Benefits to program participants include:
Average savings of 20%
Savings on specialty medications
No enrollment fees
No age requirements
Family coverage with just one card
The savings range from 13% to 35% on purchases of drugs at local pharmacies and up to 50% on mail-order purchases for this program. Cardholders have the opportunity to use the card at 57,000 participating pharmacies, and can be used to purchase prescription drugs that may not be covered by other health insurance providers.
There is no application or enrollment fee. Residents may obtain cards from their local city, township and village offices, libraries, senior and community centers, and selected county offices, or from their county commissioner.
