What can I pay online?

You may pay current taxes owed to any city, village or township in Oakland County, Michigan or delinquent taxes owed to the Oakland County Treasurer.

What are the benefits of paying my property taxes online?

Why am I charged a fee for paying online?

Some users will be asked to purchase a Tax Statement or a Current Tax Profile in order to pay taxes online.
You will be asked to purchase a Tax Statement or Current Tax Profile if:
  • You are paying current taxes online and your current Tax Bill has a Code number printed on it, but you did not enter the Code number on the Search for a Parcel page. In this case, you may return to the Search for a Parcel page and enter the Code number along with the other property identification information.
  • You are paying current taxes online and you no longer have your current Tax Bill. In this case, you are required to purchase a Current Tax Profile for $2.50 in order to pay your taxes online.
  • You are paying Delinquent Taxes online. In this case, you are required to purchase a Delinquent Tax Statement for $2.00 in order to pay your taxes online.
You do NOT have to purchase a Tax Statement or Current Tax Profile if:
  • You are paying current taxes online, your current Tax Bill has a Code number on it, and you entered this Code number on the Search for a Parcel page to retrieve your property records from our database.
  • You are paying current taxes online and your current Tax Bill does NOT have a Code number printed on it.
The fee to purchase a Tax Statement or a Current Tax Profile is charged by Oakland County to recover costs associated with developing the technology required in providing this online payment service.
In addition, Oakland County charges an Enhanced Access Fee as provided by Public Act 462 of 1996, Enhanced Access to Public Records Act. This fee is based on a percentage of the total amount of the payment you are making online.

What do I need to have in order to pay my property taxes online?

  • Your property tax bill (for property identification number, code number, payment amount, name and address)
  • Valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover)
  • E-mail address (for e-mail of your confirmation information)
  • Pen/printer (for a hard copy of your confirmation information)

What credit cards are accepted?

Payments may be made using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

Are debit cards accepted?

Debit cards carrying the Visa, MasterCard or Discover logo may be used.

Is my credit information secure?

Yes. We do not store credit card information. In order to complete the current transaction, your credit card information is passed directly to VeriSign via a secure connection. Contact VeriSign with any concerns about the protection of your credit card information.

How can I confirm my credit card payment?

After submitting your tax payment online, a confirmation receipt will be displayed on screen. This receipt contains your property identification information, a confirmation of the payment just made, and a confirmation number. You may use this confirmation number for any inquiries as to the status of your payment. A confirmation statement will also be sent to the e-mail address you provide with your credit card billing information.
To check the status of your payment:
  1. Go to any page in the Oakland County Web site.
  2. Click the "View Cart" icon in the upper right corner of the page
  3. Click the "Order Status" link on the right side navigation menu
  4. Enter the Order Number found on the receipt confirmation provided after your tax payment was submitted
  5. Enter the billing name
  6. Order Status will be displayed
If any errors occurred during your payment submission, you may have to restart the payment process and submit your payment again.

Who do I call with questions about my taxes or my Tax Bill?

All tax questions should be directed to the Treasurer's office of your city, village or township. The telephone number for this office appears on your Tax Bill, or you may access a list of the main telephone numbers for Oakland County cities, villages and townships.

Who do I call about a credit card billing error?

If you believe your credit card account has been billed in error, contact the Treasurer's office of your city, village or township. The telephone number for this office appears on your Tax Bill, or you may access a list of the main telephone numbers for Oakland County cities, villages and townships.
