Oakland County Parks is your link to fun, recreation and education in the outdoors! Choose from two nature centers with customizable program offerings, plus campgrounds and volunteer opportunities. We can even get you from Point A to Point B!

Reading Ranger Program

Let the Oakland County Parks reward your students for exercising their reading muscles. They earn free passes to Red Oaks or Waterford Oaks Waterparks to exercise their swimming muscles.

NATURE CONNECTIONS

Bring science to your school or group with programs that satisfy Michigan Science Framework Objectives.  Naturalists conduct a variety of programs for first through twelfth grade students.  Call either nature center to schedule a visit. This program is available December through April.
 
CATCH THE READING BUG 
"Book" a visit with a naturalist and your young readers will learn to see the world through the eyes of a bug!

FIELD TRIPS

Schools can schedule Nature Center Field Trips and tailor the program content to specific topics. Age-appropriate programs that satisfy State of Michigan science benchmarks, are offered for preschool through twelfth grade.  Contact either nature center for details.

NISHNAWBE LONGHOUSE BUILDING AT LYON OAKS 

Fourth and fifth graders will learn about the Nishnawbe Indians native to this area, then work together to build an authentic longhouse!  Contact Tim Nowicki at 248.437.7345 to book your adventure!

 

NATURE DISCOVERY

Naturalists bring interpretive programs for all ages to your group from May through October. A great way to incorporate hands-on nature topics in your group's schedule! Call either nature center to set up a visit.

 

STARLAB

This portable planetarium can help your group learn about constellations and other astronomy topics. Grounded electricity and an indoor space of 23'x23' (minimum 11' ceiling) are required. You can also request Starlab for your nature center field trip! Call either nature center to schedule your out-of-this-world adventure!

 

CAN'T GET HERE FROM THERE?

Why not use the parks' bus fleet? Special bus rental rates are available to school groups! Or book the buses for your next field trip. Call 858.0916.

 

ARE YOU IN CHARGE OF THE PICNIC THIS YEAR?

The Oakland County Parks Mobile Recreation Units are ideal for family festivals and group, class or school celebrations! From inflatable bouncers and mazes to the unique climbing tower, Mobile Recreation will give your event an extra measure of fun!  Call 248.858.0916 today to book your unit!

NEED A TRIP DESTINATION?

Book your group at the Red Oaks or Waterford Oaks Waterparks for a day of fun and celebration! With giant waterslides, wave-action pools and spray areas for smaller visitors, your group will hardly have time to eat at the picnic shelters or concession stand!  Call 248.858.0916 at least one week in advance, to make reservations!
