Get out and get active - learn to cross-country ski at Oakland County Parks.

Clinics are scheduled for January 19 and 27; February 2, 10, 16 and 24; and March 1 and 9 at Independence Oaks County Park, weather permitting. Classes are held from noon - 2:30 p.m.

Independence Oaks was rated as southeast Michigan's best groomed cross-country trails in "Tops & Bests Winter Getaways" by Hour Detroit magazine. 

Ten miles of groomed and marked trails and ski rentals are available for open cross-country skiing at Independence Oaks. Addison Oaks County Park has six miles of marked, ungroomed trails, for those with their own equipment. Open skiing is available at Highland Oaks, Orion Oaks and Rose Oaks plus Glen Oaks, Red Oaks, Springfield Oaks and White Lake Oaks golf courses. (No groomed trails; for those with their own equipment).

Cost for each clinic is $10/person; $15/person with ski rental. Pre-registration one week in advance is required. Clinic cost includes park entry fee.
