Summer Camps

Oakland County Parks offers up summer camps for kids ages 6-15! 

Oakland County Parks Day Camp program is a community of camp professionals dedicated to inspiring children through an outdoor camp experience.

We are committed to teaching healthy recreation habits through safe camp communities; caring, experienced and competent adult role models; developmentally appropriate activities with skill progression; inclusive environment for campers of all abilities and backgrounds; outdoor discovery & environmental stewardship; opportunities for leadership, teambuilding and personal growth; and experiential learning.

June 30 July 2, 2008
Red Oaks Waterpark
Ages 10-14
9am - 3pm.
Spend three days at Red Oaks Waterpark in Madison Heights sampling water sports, including kayaking and snorkeling plus rock climbing, games and competitions. Explore geocaching, the high-tech scavenger hunt craze, at the Madison Heights Nature Center. Must provide own transportation to Red Oaks. Daily Activities

Wild Adventures Camp

Ages 6-13

9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday at Independence Oaks. See registration information for dates

Wild Adventures Camps explore the outdoors on foot, by bike and by boat! This camp is a playground for cycling, swimming, climbing, fishing, pedal boating, stargazing and making friends! Go techno-green with geocaching (a GPS scavenger hunt) and eco-arts & crafts. On Friday, enjoy a relaxing campfire picnic and a trip to Waterford Oaks Waterpark for some much needed cooling off! Daily Activities

Wild Adventure Extreme Camp

Ages 11 - 15
9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.,  Monday-Friday at Independence Oaks.
Campout at Independence Oaks' Camp Wilderness on Thursday night. See registration information for dates.

Wild Adventures EXTREME includes all the fun of Wild Adventures Camp plus canoeing, backpacking, shelter building and outdoor survival skills. Campers will go river paddling on the Clinton River and campout overnight at Camp Wilderness on Thursday as they learn firebuilding, campfire cooking, and camping skills. Junior Counselor Program

For ages 14 & older

Do you want to meet new people, have fun, make memories? Do you want to get outdoors and do things you can't do at home? Do you want to branch out and be more independent?  Do you want to learn new skills?

If your answer is YES, the Oakland County Parks Junior Counselor program is looking for people just like you - ambitious and energetic young people looking for a challenging, rewarding experience and a chance to contribute their unique ideas. Your experience as a day camp junior counselor will give you awesome opportunities to learn and develop the skills you'll need for your future - skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, teaching, and creativity.

You'll have fun and enjoy helping your campers grow and learn through the camp experience - all while equipping yourself for a more successful future.

OCPR Day Camp Director
We're looking for leaders like you - who possess critical thinking, financial management, communication, decision making, relationship and conflict resolution skills - to lead our ambitious and energetic counselors!

Your job as a day camp director will require you to supervise and train a staff of 2 assistant directors, 12 counselors, 20 junior counselors; network with community partners; oversee bus transportation; manage the camp budget; and coordinate day-to-day camp operations.

The day camp director embodies the camp's mission and philosophy and is a role model for the staff, volunteers and campers.  You'll enjoy helping your staff to grow and learn through the camp experience - and challenging yourself!
