Oakland County will install a 112-foot by 13-foot wrap on the water tower behind the Oakland County Market depicting scenes and iconic buildings from around the county. Award-winning graphic artist Pam Tremble designed the wrap to include Chrysler headquarters, Lawrence Technological University, Automation Alley, the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Detroit Zoo, Oakland County International Airport and other scenes.
“The wrap features some of what is best about Oakland County,” County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “Tens of thousands of individuals drive through the area every day and will see why Oakland County is among the best places to live, work, play and prosper.”
The wrap is the final stage of a Facilities Management Department project to refurbish the water tower which will serve as a water reserve and support radio communications. The water tower is approximately five decades old.
Media are welcome to come out any day next week to take pictures or video of the progress of the installation.
The process begins Monday, Oct. 14 when crews will prep the tower. The actual installation of the wrap will get underway Tuesday with an expected completion by Thursday or Friday. The best times to see activity will be Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. All times are weather dependent and subject to change.
