Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, the Department of Economic Development & Community Affairs and the Oakland County Workforce Development Board.

Patterson will reveal the 2013 Skills Needs Assessment Project results. This six-month regional survey of advanced manufacturing employers was designed to identify gaps in knowledge, skills and abilities in the current workforce that prevent employers from filling advanced manufacturing jobs now and in the immediate future. Oakland County Workforce Development officials will also show employers how they may be eligible to receive state and federal grants to help train current and future employees.
Where: The Troy Marriott, 200 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy

7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., program at 8 a.m

Advanced manufacturing employers say they can’t find enough qualified workers to fill existing job openings and future jobs will go unfilled. The 150 employers who participated in the survey along with the Oakland County Business Roundtable, local chambers of commerce, workforce developers, educators, state and local officials have been invited to the event. The media is invited and encouraged to attend the breakfast and the program.
