Patterson's Count Your Steps Finale to get Kids Moving at the Detroit Zoo

What:
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and one of the Detroit Zoo mascots will take a "victory lap" with students from the winning schools of the ninth annual Count Your Steps program. Patterson will announce the three winning schools and school districts at the event.
 
Count Your Steps is Patterson's pedometer walking program to fight childhood obesity. This year, more than 15,000 students from 120 schools walked over 1 billion steps. Since the program's inception in 2004, more than 188,000 Oakland County third- and fourth-grade students have logged more than 17 billion steps or 341 times around the Earth.
