Pontiac, Michigan -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson underwent his third and final surgery to repair orthopedic injuries Tuesday afternoon. The third surgery was part of the treatment plan initiated by doctors at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac following last Friday’s two-vehicle accident. Patterson’s doctor said the outlook for Patterson is good.
"Brooks has gone through his third and final orthopedic repair," said Dr. Tressa Gardner, director of emergency services at McLaren Oakland Hospital. "The next step is to start our rehab therapy and the prognosis is good."
Patterson will remain under the care of doctors and staff at McLaren Oakland Hospital. Doctors have set no date for Patterson's discharge.
Chief Deputy County Executive Gerald Poisson said Patterson's continued recovery is great news.
"I guarantee one thing about Brooks, he wants to get back to the office as soon as possible," Poisson said.
The next update will be Thursday afternoon by press release and voicemail at 248-858-1048.
Clarification: Some recent media reports have incorrectly stated Patterson is 74 years old. He is 73.
