Patterson and New Zoo Mascots Get Kids Moving!

Join Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and newly unveiled Detroit Zoo mascots - Junior Z and Zooper Hero - at the eighth annual Count Your Steps finale. The top three schools that walked the most steps this year will be announced at the event.

Third and fourth graders from the first place school will join Patterson and his furry friends as they take a "victory lap" of nearly two miles around the Detroit Zoo.

Count Your Steps is Patterson's pedometer walking program to fight childhood obesity. Since the program's inception, more than 156,000 Oakland County third and fourth grade students have logged more than 15 billion steps or 288 times around the Earth!
