Patterson Opens Michigan's First "Green" Airport Terminal Today

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will host the grand opening of Michigan's first "green" terminal today at Oakland County International Airport (OCIA) at an invitation-only event. An opportunity to tour the new $7.5 million, 15,000-square-foot terminal will follow an outdoor ceremony.
"This terminal is the gateway to Oakland County," said Patterson. "There's a 'wow' factor about the terminal that will give travelers a positive impression of our region."

 Oakland County International Airport, Main Entrance, 6500 Highland Road, Waterford, Michigan. There is designated media parking in the new terminal's East Lot.
Formal ceremony including Marine color guard and F-16 flyover; rotating wind spires; solar panel array and solar hot water heater; electric car charging stations; living wall; geothermal piping array; artistic glass “Welcome to Oakland County” sign; Pitts Special biplane; outdoor aircraft takeoff and landing viewing area; historic documents including nation’s first airport certification document and Michigan air tour document signed by Orville Wright.
