Pontiac, Michigan -- This 12th annual "Quake On The Lake" is just days away as it prepares to host one of the nation's premier boat races - the 2011 National Inboard Hydroplane Championships – Saturday, July 16th and Sunday, July 17th at Pontiac Lake Recreation Area in White Lake and Waterford townships. The last time the National Inboard Hydroplane Championships were held in Michigan was at Ford Lake near Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1969.
This year's hydroplane racing will feature classes that will run from 90 miles per hour to those that approach 175 miles per hour in the straightaways. The racecourse at Pontiac Lake is recognized as the fastest one-mile racecourse in North America. Since the inception of "Quake on the Lake" 11 years ago, 17 world speed records have been broken in 10 classes of inboard hydroplanes.

Rare Earth and The Verve Pipe with special guest The Infatuations will be among the recording artists featured at the 12th Annual "Quake On The Lake." Other acts taking to the stage include The Magic Bus, The Detroit Groove Kings, 4D - All-Girl Rock Band, The Strict and The Excluders. Sunday is Country Music Day at "Quake On The Lake" with Shotgun Willie, Billy Craig, Terrie Lea and The Mustangs, Tripp 'N' Dixie, and Bullhonkey Deluxe.
The Verve Pipe will perform a family show "Calling All Kids" at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16. In addition to great music, the Family Fun Zone returns this year for kids of all ages. It includes bouncers and slides, a rock climbing wall and face painting. There will also be exhibits and great food.
"Quake On The Lake" regular admission at the gate is $10 per adult; $5 for children ages 5-12 years; and children 4 and under are free. Gate admission includes viewing the national championship racing and the entertainment. Pit passes are available for $10 to get a close-up look at the race boats and meet the race teams.
Exclusive VIP Concert tickets for Saturday are available at www.QuakeOnTheLake.org for $25. The VIP concert tickets will give special access to a preferred concert seating area which includes a private bar and restrooms as well as gate entry into the "Quake on the Lake."
All net proceeds directly benefit The Rainbow Connection, a 501(c)(3) charity which makes dreams come true for children with life threatening diseases and supports other community grass root initiatives. "Quake On The Lake" has shared more than $100,000 in charitable donations since its inception.
This year's Rainbow Connection Wish Children are 8-year-old Kyle of White Lake Township and 13-year-old Sabrina of Troy. The wish of Kyle, who has Lymphoma, is to visit Disney World. Sabrina looks forward to her wish of traveling to Vancouver, British Colombia this fall to view a taping of her favorite show "Supernatural."
