Pontiac, MI, June 8, 2010 - Oakland County Public Services Director Mike Zehnder has been appointed to a three-year term on the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
"I'm delighted for Mike," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, who has agreed to serve as honorary chair of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame 2010 Induction Ceremony. "A major part of his life is centered on the sports world. Now he has an official role to pursue his avocation."
Zehnder has been a member of the Patterson administration from the beginning, January 1, 1993. Prior to joining Oakland County, Zehnder worked 12 years in sports representation, advocating on behalf of some of Michigan’s finest athletes.
"I'm now part of an organization that honors professional and amateur athletes," Zehnder said. "I've been involved with sports for a long time. This appointment gives me the opportunity to help these individuals get the recognition they deserve."
Zehnder will be part of a team that will see the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame through its transition as it relocates to the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Michigan.
"As a board member, I plan to promote the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and its goals," Zehnder said.
