Pontiac, Michigan -- The Oakland County Sustainable Community Seminar Series presents "Celebrating Local Food Resources and Community Gardens in Oakland County," Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center, 2100 Pontiac Lake Rd. in Waterford.
A panel discussion on community gardens will include speakers from the Michigan Young Farmer's Coalition and HAVEN Garden Project, Royal Oak Community Garden, Oakland University Community Garden, the WAM Program at Springfield Oaks and Oakland County Parks & Recreation's "Recreational Horticulture" program at Ernst Greenhouses. A tour of the Oakland County Historical Orchard, Farmer's Market and Ernst Greenhouses follows. Locally grown and made products will be available for sampling.
