Pontiac, Michigan -- Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is puzzled that for the second year in a row Governor Granholm has scheduled her State of the State Address on the same night of his State of the County speech. Both events are planned for February 3, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
As the attached document clearly demonstrates, Patterson had signed a contract with the Centerpoint Marriot in Pontiac to reserve the space back in March of 2009 - eleven months ago. Granholm apparently waited until the last possible moment to make a decision. Sources in Lansing say Granholm delayed scheduling her speech until she heard more about when President Obama would hold his State of the Union Address.
Patterson says: "I'm not going to accuse the Governor of intentionally picking the same date, but to quote Bogart: "Of all the gin joints in the town…"
