Do you know a high school student who would like to help make the community a better place?
The Oakland County 4-H Youth Leadership Institute, a 9-month program in which students build skills in problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, cultural competence and more. The Institute meets once per month, and culminates in a youth-designed service project to address a significant community issue. It's a fun way to meet new friends, learn about non-profit organizations in Oakland County, and put leadership skills into practice.
Community service hours earned through the Youth Leadership Institute may be applied toward graduation requirements at many local high schools.
All of the details are available via digital brochure at http://tiny.cc/YLI.
Applications are accepted from June through August each year, and the Institute sessions run from September through May. To request an application, please contact Christy Hicks at hicksch@msu.edu.
