March 31, 2014: Timber and Taxes Workshop
MSU Extension-Oakland is sponsoring a workshop to inform forest landowners and managers, forestry consultants, tax preparers, and anyone interested in federal income taxes as it relates to income from forest management and timber sales. The workshop will take place on Monday, March 31, 2014, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center in Waterford. This workshop will be taught by Dr. Karen Potter-Witter from the MSU Forestry Department. Dr. Potter-Witter is a professor of forest economics with over 30 years of experience. The workshop will help landowners minimize the amount of federal income tax paid on timber sale revenue. The cost is $20 per family if pre-registered or $25 per family at the door. Please contact the Ben Schram at 517-284-5617 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or to register.
