The AARP Foundation sponsors this directory of legal hotlines. From here link to organizations across the nation that provide various services such as answers to legal questions, advice on solving legal problems, some document preparation or research, or in-house referrals. Only those hotlines providing legal advice and information by phone at the time of client contact are included.

The American Bar Association provides a portal to information on legal aid for qualifying individuals. Click on a map of the U.S. to find resources state by state. Other useful information includes: how to hire and pay for an attorney, finding free legal help, helping yourself through legal issues, what to do if you have a problem with an attorney.
