The DOC, a state administrative agency, has jurisdiction over Michigan's adult prison, probation and parole systems. Their website contains directories and maps to all state prisons, boot camps, and probation and parole offices in Michigan. Victim resources include a Sex Offender Registry and a Crime Victim's Notification Service. Locate prisoners, probationers and parolees through the Offender Tracking Information System.

State Appellate Defender Office (http://www.sado.org)
SADO helps represent convicted indigent felons on appeals in Michigan. The site posts pro per appeals manuals and forms, and links to manuals of assistance to defense attorneys.  Use the links on this website to search for state and federal cases and statutes, and use the directories to find defense attorneys, expert witnesses, court reporters and inmates in correctional facilities.

 

U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (http://www.bop.gov) 
The Bureau operates a nationwide system of prisons and detention facilities for inmates imprisoned for committing Federal crimes, or awaiting trial or sentencing in Federal courts. From this website access directories to federal prisons and community corrections centers, as well as an inmate locator service.

 

United States Sentencing Commission (http://www.ussc.gov/guidelin.htm)
The Commission provides the Federal Sentencing Guidelines Manual, from 1994 to the current edition. The website includes amendments, supplements, policy statements and official commentary on those guidelines. The Commission's newsletter is also accessible from their website.

 

The National Center for Victims of Crime (http://www.ncvc.org)
This non-profit organization serves the needs of people and communities harmed by crime. Click on "Get Help Series" to access publications and links to legal and other resources on crime related topics, including workplace and domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, hate crimes, elder abuse, handgun violence, and much more.

 

National Crime Prevention Council (http://www.ncpc.org)
The Council provides resources for individuals and organizations interested in preventing crime through social action. Click on "Topics" for detailed information on many related subjects such as fraud, bullying, hate/bias, neighborhood and school safety, etc.
