Oakland County has negotiated a contract with GovDelivery, a leading provider of e-mail subscription services for government, to expand its e-mail notification and news delivery service to each of our 62 local governments in addition to all County departments, who in turn may use the system free of charge to build e-mail distribution lists, send out newsletters and generate cell phone text messages. This unique offering will allow a citizen to go to their local government web site to sign-up for information, updates and alerts from the local- to the County-level, delivering critical public information relevant on a regional basis.
What is E-mail Subscription?
It's one of the newest and fastest ways to update your citizens with current news and information delivered to them via e-mail or wireless device. Your citizens sign-up for the free service right from your Web site's home page, and they can select to receive information on a variety of topics -- depending on which you choose to offer. You can use this e-mail list to let them know when a Web page is updated on your site, or to send newsletters and messages anytime of the day.
How it Works
You will sign-up with us (send an e-mail to egov@oakgov.com or call 248-445-4458) to get an account. Then we train you and help you implement the service on your Web site. There will be a link placed on your home page, and any other page you wish, where your site visitors will be able to provide their e-mail address and set their preferences. After that your e-mail subscription list will grow and you will be able to send as many e-mails or notifications as needed.
