About the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (IT) is a service bureau that provides IT services to 82 County divisions, more than 100 local governmental units (assessors, treasurers, law enforcement, etc.), over 50 private sector customers, and over 1,700 @ccess Oakland customers.

IT is responsible for over 150 major applications consisting of more than 8,000 programs and provides systems support, maintenance, enhancements, and new development for all major systems applications.

IT is under the administration of the County Executive and is comprised of four organizational divisions.
