Oakland County Homeland Security Division, under the Health and Human Services Department, provides emergency management planning, response, recovery and mitigation services for natural, technological, national security and nuclear emergencies or disasters affecting Oakland County, Michigan.

Governor Jennifer Granholm and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson have declared the week of April 11-17, 2010 as Severe Weather Awareness Week.  During the week, the Homeland Security Division will be engaged in various public education efforts in order to raise public awareness of the importance of preparing for minimizing the loss of life and distruction of property that can result from severe weather.  Do you have a family disaster plan?

A special test of the Oakland County Outdoor Warning Sirens will be conducted on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.  The purpose of this test is to raise the tornado safety awareness level of citizens and offer schools and businesses an opportunity to test their internal disaster plans.
