MIChild and Healthy Kids Insurance


What is MIChild?

MIChild is a state-wide program to provide health care insurance to previously uninsured children.  Children under 19 years of age, who are not Medicaid eligible, and meet the financial guidelines may be eligible for MIChild. 

  • Immunizations
  • Dental care
  • Pharmacy
  • Hospital care
  • Home health care
  • Prenatal and delivery care
  • Vision and hearing services 
  • Mental health and substance abuse services

What is Healthy Kids/Medicaid?

Healthy Kids Medicaid is a state-wide program to provide health care insurance for low-income families and individuals.  This includes pregnant women, babies, and children under the age of 19. 

Healthy Kids/Medicaid covers:

  • Regular checkups
  • Immunizations
  • Dental care
  • Prenatal support services
  • Hospital care
  • Mental health and substance abuse services
  • Home Health care
  • Hearing, Vision, and Speech
  • Other health services

You can apply for these benefits at your local Department of Human Services (DHS) or by mail.
