Preparedness for Pets

In the event of a public health emergency, proper preparation will be an important part of keeping your family and pets safe.  Below are tips to follow:

  • Don't allow your pets to eat or catch birds
  • Keep your pet away from dead birds
  • Stock up on food, water and any medications your pet may take
  • Contact your veterinarians for any respiratory problems your animal is having
  • Don't touch your ill or dead pet with bare hands. Always wear gloves
  • Be sure your pet is not eating poultry faeces
  • Always wash your hands after handling pets or animals
  • In the event a vaccination is given to humans, do not share with your pet
  • Be away of where your pet goes in the yard, water or woods
