Public Health Emergency Preparedness


Oakland County Health Division's Emergency Preparedness Unit is committed to protecting the public's health and safety by preparing for all types of emergencies such as natural disasters, disease outbreaks and/or chemical spills.  

The Emergency Preparedness Unit raises emergency readiness in the community by developing strong relationships with local partners, first responders and the media.

What Can You Do to Prepare for a Public Health Emergency?

The best preparation is knowing the facts. Community members can help prepare by having the education, plans, and supplies needed in the event of a public health emergency pandemic.  Below are links to more information and checklists.

During a public health emergency like a flu pandemic, it is very important that you do things like wash your hands, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and clean surfaces to prevent you and your family from getting sick.
