Healthy Babies & Safe Pregnancies

Oakland County Health Division strives to give every infant a healthy start in life by improving the health of mothers and babies.

Oakland County infant mortality rates are lower than statewide averages, however there is still reason for concern. Babies born to African American mothers are three times more likely to die in the first year of life than those born to white mothers, especially in specific areas of the county such as Pontiac and Southfield.

If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are a parent/caregiver, Oakland County Health Division has a variety of resources and services for you and your infant.
