Infant Safe Sleep Practices

Follow these safe sleep steps to reduce the risk of SIDS and other unexpected deaths:

  • Baby sleeps alone in a crib.
  • Baby sleeps on back, at nighttime and naptime.
  • Nothing in sleep area - no bumper pads or stuffed toys
  • Use a firm mattress in a safety-approved crib, and tightly fitting sheets.
  • Keep baby's face uncovered, use a sleeper instead of a blanket.
  • Don't allow anyone to smoke anything around the baby.
  • Avoid overheating the baby.
