Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map Update
FEMA-Oakland County Cooperating Technical Partners
In 2002, Oakland County entered into a Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) Partnership Agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to work together to create and maintain accurate, up-to-date flood hazard data for Oakland County. The County also solicited and received funding to improve the currency and accuracy of Oakland County's Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) for two pilot geographic townships as outlined in the Mapping Activity Statement (MAS) for 2002-2003.
In 2003, FEMA announced its goal for creating new DFIRMs for the entire County by 2004. In light of this development, FEMA and Oakland County mutually agreed that Oakland County would undertake redelineation of floodplains in only one geographic township and not two as was outlined in the original MAS (2002-2003). Troy township has been chosen as this pilot township. Furthermore, Oakland County Information Technology solicited and received funding in 2003 to coordinate this effort with Oakland County cities, villages and townships (CVTs) as outlined in the 2003-2004 MAS. In addition to coordinating the countywide redelineation, the County will also be creating some data such as Letters of Map Changes (LOMCs), and analyzing the impacts of redelineation.
The purpose of this site is to provide all relevant information about this project, including documents and project status updates. Project updates will be provided on a monthly basis until the end of the project.
