Personal Protection Orders

Personal Protection Orders

The laws regarding Personal Protection Orders went into effect in April of 1995. An individual can seek the protection of the court when faced with threatening conduct.  These protective orders can prohibit a person from "stalking" another party or prohibit other conduct.

Personal Protection Orders can be obtained by contacting the County Clerk's Office, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan. Personal Protection Orders can be used to restrain a spouse, a former spouse, a person who has resided in your home, or a person with whom you have had a child.

The Clerk's Office will provide the necessary forms and direct you to assistance.
