Government to Business

Homebuilder Steve Jones used to set aside a few hours when he had to file permits with the city. There was lots of waiting involved.

What if he could do it online instead? "You bet! I'd rather be sitting at my desk than standing in line for two hours."

In the near future, Steve will be able to do just that. But not only will permit transactions be conducted online -- practically all transactions required for businesses that now occur at city/county offices will be available through "eGovernment". The @ccess Oakland program already offers real estate professionals and others access to relevant land and property data -- once only available by driving to the Oakland County Campus.

Through Oakland County's eHealth program, restaurant inspection certificates will be available right at the time of inspection. Businesses who are, or want to, do business with the County will be able to view opens bids and submit proposals online.

These are just a few examples of ways eGovernment is helping to bring improved services to the business community.
