Oakland County Economic Outlook Forecast, 2006-2008
The 21st Annual Economic Outlook Luncheon was held at the Troy Marriott on April 26, 2006. Economists from the University of Michigan Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations, George Fulton and Donald Grimes, presented their forecast of economic growth in Oakland County for the next three years.
2007 Salary Survey, Southeast Michigan Region
This is the largest, most comprehensive compensation survey in the state of Michigan, published by the American Society of Employers. 347 companies participating in the survey produced data for 280 job classifications in 12 job families, including Information Systems, Administration, Finance, Materials and Distribution, Banking, Medical, Human Resources, Sales, etc. Additional information reported in this survey includes turnover rates, variable pay information, barriers to recruiting new employers, salary budget data and shift premiums. Data is broken out by 5 company sizes, 5 regions and 4 industry types, including a match for auto suppliers and non-auto-suppliers.
SBA 504 Loan Program
The Oakland County Business Finance Corporation and the Economic Development Corporation assist companies in obtaining financing at favorable rates through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 Loan Program and Tax-Exempt Revenue Bonds. Both programs offer long-term financing for fixed assets.
Apprenticeships in Oakland County and Southeastern Michigan
Oakland County's economy is increasingly knowledge-based. High-paying, low-skill jobs are being replaced with career opportunities that require technical skills and a good education. Indeed, the University of Michigan's economic outlook for Oakland County predicts that more than 3, 000 automobile manufacturing jobs will be lost during the next three years, and that 31 percent of the county's new jobs for the same period will be in the high-tech skill service industries. The 31-page booklet asks and answers several key questions and provides information about many occupations for which apprenticeships are available.

Funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and administered by 19 regional regranting agencies across the state. Oakland County Arts & Culture administers the program for Oakland County.
