Founded by Amos Orton in 1848, Ortonville is a friendly community that enjoys a rich heritage and abundant natural amenities. Located in northern Oakland County, this one-square-mile village is bisected by M-15 and home to over 1,500 people. 

Downtown Ortonville is an Oakland County Main Street that offers a wide variety of specialty shops and services. Throughout the year, the village hosts several events including: Creekfest, “Cruise to Ortonville” Car Show, September Fest, Christmas in the Village, and Beets, Beats & Eats.

Village recreational amenities include three municipal parks, a historic grist mill, and a skate park. In addition, the 5,400 acre Ortonville Recreation Area features activities including camping, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting and horseback riding.
