Incorporated as a city in 1928, the city of Pleasant Ridge is an elegant community that offers residential grace in an urban location. Centrally located in southeastern Oakland County, Pleasant Ridge is south of I-696 and bisected by Woodward Avenue. Within our .5-square-mile community are several parks and a community center, which includes a pool with water features and a state-of-the-art wellness center. Throughout the year, the community center is a hub of activity for all ages and interests.

Pleasant Ridge is known for its historic homes, tree-lined streets and active citizens who dedicate their time for the betterment of the community. Our long tradition of community pride is reflected in our beautiful parks along Woodward Avenue and our pristine neighborhoods.  Many of the houses in Pleasant Ridge are part of a nationally-recognized historic district, and all the homes reflect the care and attention, which assures that Pleasant Ridge will remain a beautiful community for generations to come.

The Workforce Development Division of Oakland County helps train and place unemployed workers by partnering with Michigan Works! Each center provides employers with a wide range of services including, applicant recruitment, onsite interview rooms, training funds for planned new hires, information technology (IT) training and out-placement assistance.  The centers also provide assistance to job seekers including, resources on resume writing and interviewing, job placement, testing and assessment, training funds to enhance or gain new skills, and IT training.

Pleasant Ridges Downtown Development Authority district includes Woodward Avenue commercial properties, the City Hall building and several parks. The DDA has provided funding for many in improvements in the Downtown District, including streetscape improvements along Woodward Avenue, promoting and facilitating urban growth and ensuring its appreciation as a historic treasure.

Memorial Park This Club is operated by the Recreation Department and includes City teens who are taught the importance of community service. The VIP Club will participate and help organize a major event this year in recognition of the 200th Anniversary of Woodward Avenue, Hands Along Woodward. While social events are a large part of the attraction, the teens also offer community service to residents and the City with park clean-up days and mentoring to younger students.

Woodward Dream Cruise
Held on the 3rd Saturday in August, the Woodward Dream Cruise is the worlds largest one-day automotive event. The annual event attracts over 40,000 cars and 1.5 million spectators. The cruise spans 16 miles and the communities of Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak.
