courthousePontiac is the county seat of Oakland County.  First settled in 1818, Pontiac incorporated as a city in 1861.  Almost 150 years later, the city has evolved into a diverse blend of residential, business, automotive, industrial and high-tech companies.  Pontiac is home to General Motors, three major hospitals, a revitalized downtown nightclub district, the Oakland County Pioneer & Historical Society, an 18-hole golf course, several lakes and parks, historically unique homes and office buildings, and hosts a number of festivals and special events throughout the year.  The Pontiac Regional Chamber is the oldest chamber of commerce in Oakland County celebrating 100 years in 2004.
