Highland Township at-a-Glance

Founded in 1835 Highland Township is a Main Street Oakland County community that enjoys a rich heritage, acres of parkland and a cozy home-town atmosphere. Located on the western border of Oakland County, this 36-square-mile community is well positioned on the M-59 corridor and home to over 19,000 people.

Known for its recreational amenities, Highland Township features over 25 lakes, two municipal parks and is home to the 5,900-acre Highland Recreation Area. Recreational activities include fishing, hunting, downhill and cross country skiing, equestrian trails camping, boating, golfing and canoeing.

MSOC is now a partner with the National Trust's Highland Feed & Supply Main Street Center, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Founded in 1980, the National Trust's Main Street Center's Four Point Approach of: Organization, Design, Promotion and Economic Restructuring, has been successfully utilized in over 2,000 downtowns in 40 states since 1980.
