What We Are Doing
Oakland County conducts an active program of corporate contact, recruitment and assistance of industrial and high technology companies throughout North America and the world.
These activities help to increase business, tax revenue and job creation in the county. They include:

Conduct overseas corporate recruitment trade missions independently and in cooperation with local and state officials

Active participant and presenter at many technology conferences and shows regionally and throughout North America, Europe and Asia

Attend technology industry trade shows abroad and in North America to establish and maintain industry and company contacts

Work closely with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership

Maintain technology industry association memberships

Work closely with existing and new companies to provide assistance for expansion, site selection, financing and venture capital, permits and regulation
compliance

Maintain contact with university research and development activities to facilitate cooperation and collaboration with appropriate businesses for commercialization and marketing of new developments

Headquarters for Automation Alley, founded in 1998 by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, as a cooperative consortium of now more than 600 industrial and high technology companies in southeast Michigan

Collaborate with Oakland County educational institutions to prepare our workforce for emerging technology companies of tomorrow
