Business Development Successes

The Emerging Sectors strategy is working. Since the program began in late 2004, Oakland County has seen:

• 1 Billion dollars in new investment
• More than 11,000 jobs created
• Nearly 3,000 jobs retained
• Over $25 million in property taxes generated

Five new banks established operations in Oakland County in 2005, making Oakland County the financial center of Michigan, with 30 major banks operating here.


More than 42,000 companies are located in Oakland County.


More than 705 foreign firms from 32 countries have operations in Oakland County.
