Current Focus

Mr. Holmes is a Senior Business Development Representative for the Economic Development Group at Oakland County.  In this capacity, he works to support business attraction, retention and expansion throughout Oakland County.  He is responsible for assisting companies from the Asia/Pacific region that are seeking to locate or expand in North America.  Mr. Holmes has participated on investment missions to China, Korea and Japan. He also specializes in the Advanced Electronics sector as part of the County's Emerging Sector program and in the automotive sector.

Professional Background

Mr. Holmes has more than 30 years experience in small business and economic development in the cities of Detroit and Farmington Hills.  He has worked with local, national and international firms to help them grow and prosper.  Mr. Holmes has chaired the Finance Committee for the Virginia Park Community Shopping Center, served on the Board of Directors of Project Pride, staffed Mayor Archer's Building Department Reorganization Task Force and served on the Boards of Directors of the Northeast Manufacturer's and the Detroit Industrial Property Improvement Associations.  Mr. Holmes also managed the Detroit SBA 504 Loan Program plus two revolving loan funds.

As a long time member of the Michigan Economic Developers Association, Mr. Holmes is a well respected member of the Michigan development community.  As testament to this, he was recognized in 1996 by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as Economic Developer of the Year.

Mr. Holmes also brings with him direct plant management experience in the manufacturing sector.

Mr. Holmes holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
