This countywide Workforce Development System provides convenient one-stop access to all of the worker recruitment services and job training incentives available in Michigan. Worker recruitment specialists are available for on-site or telephone consultation. Various services are provided at the Centers.
This program provides training funds for businesses that promote new job opportunities, advanced training for existing employees, and skilled training for new workers.
This program provides job training grants for upgrading the skills of a company’s existing workforce. It provides job specific retraining or upgrading of skills related to the use of new technology. All training providers must be licensed by the State of Michigan and priority in the selection process will be given to Oakland Community College.
Provides occupational training to qualifying new hires or existing employees in exchange for reimbursement of up to 50 percent of the wage rate to compensate for the employer's extraordinary cost of training.
An free Internet-based database that contains more than 600,000 resumes. Employers can search existing resumes and post job openings. Assistance is available to employers in using the system upon request.
Oakland County has an extensive program of advanced training for K-12 students to prepare them for careers in engineering and other technical fields. This program is generating a large number of graduates with ready-to-employ skills in some of the most in demand occupations in the country. Advanced technical training is provided in such areas as:
