Retention Treatment Basin (RTB)
The RTB captures most wet weather flows for conveyance to the Detroit Waste Water Treatment Plant for treatment. Flows from very large wet weather events that are not captured by the RTB's receive screening, skimming, settling and disinfection prior to discharge. These three CSO control projects have effectively controlled the discharge of untreated sewage from Oakland County CSO's in the Rouge River Watershed. These basins have been successful in efficient and cost-effective treatment of CSO's:
