Clinton River Watershed
Oakland County is the headwaters of the Clinton River. The majority of the river miles in Oakland County are in rural areas with the river in a healthy and pristine condition.
The Clinton River Watershed has two major subwatersheds that lie completely within Oakland County: the Upper Clinton and the Clinton Main. Portions of the Red Run, Stony/Paint Creek, and North Branch Clinton subwatersheds also lie in Oakland County.
OCWRC has also implemented a number of stormwater projects including public education and illicit discharge elimination activities.
Each of these subwatersheds has a Subwatershed Advisory Group (SWAG). Oakland County participates in all of the subwatershed groups:
The Clinton Main is facilitated by Kelly Karll of ECT, Inc. kkarl@ectinc.com, phone 734-769-3004.
The Stony/Paint Creek is facilitated by Kelly Karll of ECT, Inc. kkarl@ectinc.com, phone 734-769-3004.
For additional information regarding outreach and citizen involvement programs within the watershed, visit the Clinton River Watershed Council website or phone 248-601-0606.
Communities and other watershed partners have worked cooperatively to develop subwatershed management plans to guide the protection and restoration of the Clinton River Watershed. Four subwatershed management plans for the Clinton River Watershed have been completed and submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ):
